Mohammad Ghaith Mahaini
Mohammad Ghaith Mahaini is a qualified Chartered Islamic Finance Professional. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management and a graduate of Business Administration. He is a consultant advising on Islamic Finance related matters since 2014. He has extensive experience in Takaful serving as the Head of Marketing and Planning Unit at Al-Aqeelah Takaful Insurance -a well-established Takaful company based in Damascus- for four years.
He is a trainer, a lecturer and a researcher who is specialized in Shariah compliant financial product structuring, takaful & insurance and data management field for over eight years. Ghaith has been conducting workshops and tutorials in Data Management using Excel and Financial Econometrics –Time Series Analysis.
He has a strong passion for serving Arabic language including handling numerous Arabic translation projects and teaching Arabic to non-native speakers part time. He has authored research papers and chapters of books on Islamic Finance. He worked as a Research Assistant in INCEIF from 2013 until mid-2015. One of the most remarkable research in which he was involved is the reverse salam (forward sale) product structure which has been recommended as an alternative to the existing Tawarruq practice for liquidity management purpose in the Islamic finance industry.
Ghaith’s clients and partners are spread across many countries including Australia, Malaysia, UAE, Syria, Russia, and Maldives. He is a freelance consultant who provides service under the brand name ITQAN which means “perfection” in Arabic. He is also completing his Ph.D. in Islamic Finance from the prestigious University of Malaya.

Mr. Abdul Haleem Thoufeeq
Congratulations Mr. Abdul Haleem Thoufeeq, MD of Singular Pvt Ltd Male’, Maldives for being appointed as a consultant and resource person for WOB. Mr. Haleem holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hon.) Computer Science degree from Staffordshire ( UK) and various professional qualifications such as CISCO CERTIFIED NETWORK PROFESSIONAL certifications. Mr Haleem is a Computer and Network Security Consultant specialized in designing and Implementation of Computer Networks and providing security solutions and ICT Training. He is also a FIDE Certified Chess Arbiter and Trainer.
Mr. Haleem has national and international experience in the field of IT ans he was the Head of IT at the SAARC Secretariat from 2009 – 2014. He also played key roles in regional projects such as the SAARC -GIZ Trade Promotion Network and the SAARC Gender Info Base Project. during the period. DR. ANIL PRIYANKA BADDEVITHANA
We are extremely honored to officially welcome Dr. Anil Priyanka Baddevithana to the WOB team. Dr Priyanka is appointed as a mentor and consultant to our team effective today. Dr Priyanka actively supports the WOB initiative from the very start of the initiative and have continued his involvement with WOB even after he left the position of Managing Director of HDFC PLC in the Republic of Maldives.
Dr. Priyanka firmly believes that men need to be a part of the dialogue when it comes to diversity and development of women leaders and he is committed to assist WOB to achieve its goals.

Dr. Anil Priyanka Baddevithana is specializing in Business and Financial Strategy, with high profile Corporate Leadership positions held in Banking, Housing Finance and Capital Market Development. He possesses a proven track record of professional excellence in the UK, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Singapore, counting over 40 years of experience including more than 36 years in senior and corporate management positions. The large and reputed organizations in the service history include UK’s Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster District Finance Office, Housing Corporation of England and Wales, the Halifax Group, and Sri Lanka’s Maritime International Financial Services Ltd., Ceylinco (Nation’s) Building Society, HDFC Bank of Sri Lanka, World Bank’s International Finance Corporation Partner Company HDFC PLC in the Maldives, and at present, Executive Director for Capital Finance and Investment Limited of the UK’s operations in Sri Lanka, Singapore, UK and Maldives.
He is a Life Member of the Association of Professional Bankers of Sri Lanka, a Certified Professional Marketer of the Asia Pacific Marketing Federation, Fellow of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, and an International Affiliate of the American Psychological Association, while holding academic qualifications of PhD, MBA, MA and BA.
He has served as a key member of many state, international and private sector ventures of reputed organizations including, IFC of the World Bank Group, HACAS – UK, the Commonwealth Institute, Asian Development Bank and Marcus Evans Group. Also served as an accredited resource person for programs of the Institute of Chartered Bankers of the UK. He is a pioneering practitioner of the World Bank’s Responsible Finance Initiative, and also a champion of Islamic Finance under the tutelage of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Central Bank of Malaysia (Bank Negara), and its affiliated faculty of the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance.
